AMD "Summit Ridge" Die Pictured?

At its 2016 Annual Shareholders Meeting website, AMD reportedly posted a wafer shot of its upcoming 14 nm "Summit Ridge" CPU die. The "Summit Ridge" silicon is rumored to drive a number of performance-thru-enthusiast processor SKUs for AMD. The die pictured features eight CPU cores based on the "Zen" micro-architecture, a dual-channel DDR4 memory controller, 512 KB of L2 cache per core, and 16 MB of shared L3 cache split between two blocks of four CPU cores, each.

"Summit Ridge," much like the "Bristol Ridge" APU silicon, will be a true SoC, in that it integrates the southbridge on the processor die. With "Summit Ridge," AMD is also introducing a new inter-socket interconnect replacing its ageing HyperTransport technology. The new Global Memory Interconnect (GMI) bus provides a 100 GB/s path between two sockets. The "Summit Ridge" die features two such interconnect ports.

AMD "Zen" Processor Integrated Chipset Has USB 3.1 Issues, Could Escalate Costs

With its next-generation processors and APUs based on the "Zen" micro-architecture, AMD is integrating the chipset into the processor/APU die, making motherboards entirely chipset-free. This on-die chipset, however, is rumored to be facing issues with its integrated USB 3.1 controllers, according to industry sources. AMD sourced the design for the integrated USB 3.1 controllers from ASMedia. The company has a tendency of sourcing integrated controller IP from third-party manufacturers (eg: its SATA controllers and port-multipliers in the past have been sourced from Silicon Image).

Motherboard manufacturers are noticing significant drops in USB 3.1 bandwidths with increase in circuit distances (think wiring running from the AM4 socket to USB 3.1 front-panel headers on the bottom-right corner of a motherboard). Board designers are reportedly having to use additional retimer and redriver chips to get acceptable bandwidths over such ports, and in some cases even entire USB 3.1 controllers, eating into the platform's PCIe budget and escalating costs.

DIn pacate, AMD a intrat in cardasie cu Asmedia, ca sa produca respectivul controller. Dar nu e de cea mai buna calitatea, asa cum nici controllerele Sata3 nu ating performantele celor integrate Intel de exemplu.
Macar bug-ul asta a fost prins inainte de lansarea Zen, nu dupa, ca la altii

Ceva ceva a miscat la IPC, dar eu tot nu mi-as face sperante in legatura cu Zen, avand in vedere cat de rau ne-am fript cu Bulldozer

Rahat...si cu Pentiumul ala ai niste "inghetari" de-ti vine sa arunci pc-ul pe geam fiind in 2 nuclee,chiar daca media este mai mare decat la AMD.Dar review-urile nu arata asta...Eu as include testele astea obligatoriu in orice review de GPU sau CPU,ca sa nu ne mai lasam pacaliti de media aia...A se urmari de la 2:30,daca iti agata asa de 10 ori intr-un minut s-a terminat toata distractia...

Am refacut testul si surpriza...n-ar trebui sa-si mai faca nimeni sperante, daca ei lanseaza procesoare cu IPC mai slab decat alea pe care le lansau acum 5 ani!

Acum ca avem toate datele 40% mai mult la IPC inseamna ~105 puncte pe nucleu.Asta in conditiile in care Skylake e la aproape 200 cu G4400(cu o frecventa de 3.2GHz).Dramatic nu e,un i5 3330 la 3 GHz sta la 108 puncte,deci va sta intre Sandy si Ivy.

Salvarea e sa nu mai consume cat o uzina si sa urce frumos in frecventa!

Cel putin TDP-urile arata decent,8 core/16 thread-ul ala ar trebui sa se ia la harta cu cel mai mic i7 Haswell dar doar in multithreading,in gaming cu 3.2 GHz Boost si IPC de Sandy/Ivy n-are nici o sansa:
