Default Chess Test - Run all your cores/threads @100%

I'am already a time busy to collect some data from fast computer systems to see the speed from different systems like the core i7,skulltrail,gainestown,gulftown and comming cpu's how fast they are.

From now on you can use a new engine -> "Cyclone xTreme II"
This engine is ready to handle 32cores!

For TogaII1.4.2JD-16cpu..To run test is it completly the same way!

A program that do real calculatings and use all the cores or/and threads at 100%!
For that i use a chess program and let computers calculate about 2-5min. most of the time is it less then 3min. and make my list with the highest nodes/s. at depth 22!!
With TogaII was it Depth 21.

So to keep it simple, just look to the nodes/s and hardware(clockspeed) and see how great your system will be!

People who has interest to do also this test, you can download the files here!
New engine: Arena2 + Cyclone xTreme II
http://www.mediafire.com/?jxjmwvd4nmj
And Arena2 + TogaII142JD
http://lab501.ro/wp-content/uploads/...ogaII142JD.zip

It's not difficult,no install needed, after test you can just delete the folder with the files, if you don't want to keep a full working chess program (it's freeware).

The explenation of the test:

Here you have the chess program.
1.You have the user-interface 'Arena'
2.The chess engine Cyclone xTreme II-32cpu!

I have put them already together..just do these things!
There is no install needed!!

1. Make a map/folder 'Arena'
2. Put all files in this folder.
3. Now you can start 'Arena' .exe
4. You will see the chessboard with the analyse window under the chessboard.(empty now)
This window give you the calculatings from the chess engine Cyclone xTreme II-32cpu.
5. First you have to select how many cores/threads you are running:
- Select in Menu above chessboard 'Engines'
- Then move mouse to 'Engine 1 / Cyclone xTreme II' -> little window show up
- And select 'Configure'
or fast way: -> Ctrl+1
6. You get the Configuration window from the engine.
- Now you see in left down-> 'Max Threads' 24
- You can change this to the cores you use ex.2-4-8(max.32)
- And confirm it by clicking on 'OK'
7. Close the program and restart it,the core setting is done and will keep it till you change again!
8. Above the board select in menu 'Levels' and choose 'Infinite'
9. Press one time 'Spacebar'
10. Computer begins to calculate...you will see lines scrolling in the analyse window, first number is Depth = how many moves forward in the game thinking,1,2,3...18,19,20..till you see 22!! So he is 22 moves deep in the game!
11. It will take a few minutes (3-5min) after that you click on 'Stop' (right next chessboard)

i don't know if you also use real temp,cpu-z -> else you can put them on the screen ,and make a screen when he is running (3-5min) at 100%

Here a example screen running on a gainestown: http://img117.imageshack.us/img117/6...ugainesro2.jpg

12. Go to menu above the chessboard and click on 'Position' and select 'Copy Analyses to Clipboard'
11.Now you can easy paste these analyses in a e-mail or text file and send it to me (also with the screen, if possible!)

I will see if this is clear enough for you

Good luck, and thank you very much for trying!

PS. Close as many possible programs who are running in the background to get better result,Chess engine needs 100% cpu!

Kind regards,
Jean-Paul.

Ok everybody, let's make Jean Paul see what kind of crazy enthusiast freaks we have here. It is pretty simple, this chess engine puts enormous stress on the CPU, on all cores/threads, much like LinX or Intel Burn Test. So we can see nice temps with this program, but also how powerfull our CPU's really are. So come on, show me your Nehalems and Skulltrails and any other jewel CPU you are prowd of. I will start with Intel Core i7 860, with stock settings.

And....I am beaten allready

Schumy - don't forget this part:
Quote:
12. Go to menu above the chessboard and click on 'Position' and select 'Copy Analyses to Clipboard'
11.Now you can easy paste these analyses in a text file

The ranking will look something like this (an old result of mine)

Quote:

Ok peopel, I want to see your results! Do you have what it takes to get to the top of the Chess Engine or not?

Here is another sweet thing from me:

Okay..a new list is born..

Thanks for your results Monstru & Schumy!
Monstru knows how it works
Schumy is the new number one in this list

If you have any question about the program you can always ask me!
When you get used too with this program, some of you will find out that you can fine tune your system to make it 24/7 stable.
I hope this is a good start and that other people will follow and just try it!
I will regular update the list.

JP.

Wow!!! Problem is that if you see HOT in RealTemp it means that the throttle is triggered, and that means that the performance you have there is not the optimal one

I pressed the stop button a few seconds after taking the screen-shot and I was keeping an eye on the temps, not itending to fry my cpu at the place where I work.

Another test on my E8600.

dev - very good, but you have to let it run for at least 5 minutes and also attach the txt.

blackoberst - that is a cool time for a dual-core!
