Pai RT RT in 4k? Cam greu, si GI si reflections si shadows.. Mie imi merge in 1440p totul la max si nu scade sub 45 FPS, de regula peste 50.
Cu totul la maxim arata FABULOS.

Chiar asa, FABULOS? Ti se pare normal ca NVidia sa dirijeze resurse si talente a.i sa avem Quake 2 pe lista jocurilor care ofera suport pentru Ray Tracing?

Pe cine mai intereseaza Quake 2 in anul de gratie 2019 sa ridice mana.

Rectific, iluminarea în varianta asta de quake este fabuloasa, ceva ce nu am mai văzut într-un joc real time. Nu discut strategia de marketing nvidia aici..

Nu contest, doar ca iluminarea scenei pare sa fie extrem de costisitoare dpdv al puterii de calcul folosite asa ca deocamdata nu merita.
In plus, trebuie sa ai si ce sa iluminezi intr-o scena, ori sa fim seriosi, nici mama iluminarilor nu poate face ca obiectele 3D prezente in scena respectiva sa arata altfel decat asa cum erau acum douazeci de ani (adica oribil dupa standarele actuale); Cand duci in pat o tipa care arata ca naiba, nu cred e cazul sa aprinzi lumina, e de la sine de inteles

Sunt absolut de acord cu faptul ca ray-tracing-ul reprezinta viitorul, dar nu asa...

Dacă nu ma înșel alea-s on screen (gi de regula, poate și shadows, reflections.. ). Dacă-I asa nu are legătură cu ce-i în Quake. Am mai văzut on-screen gi in quantum break, on-screen reflections in o grămadă de jocuri, etc. Dar ray-traced gi ca cel din metro e foarte costisitor..

E un shader de RT "injectat" in motorul grafic. Diferenta fata de RT-ul din Battlefield, Metro etc dupa cum explica autorul ar consta in faptul ca:
"What I’m doing is ray tracing in screen space, tracing rays against the depth buffer (a data buffer that contains the information how far an object is away, as opposed to the color buffer which tells you what color the object has and what you usually see in any game). When compared to DXR, it has several limitations: anything behind another object does not contribute, anything outside the screen does not contribute, backfaces do not contribute. The benefits of this shader is that it can run on every game and GPU and it’s a step up from regular SSAO. iar rezultatele sunt promitatoare din ce am putut vedea pana acum;
Poate o sa fac abstractie de cele 800+ ore petrecute in Witcher 3 si o sa-l mai instalez odata sa vad cum se comporta RT-ul in Red Engine...

E ceea ce se poate face cu puterea actuala de calcul. Poate peste zece ani de acum incolo se va putea face mai mult

Ce mi-a mai plăcut în originalul quake 2 a fost să luminez coridoare cu pistolașul în Glide. Și aia era un fel de Ray Tracing

Eu am intrat in optiuni, am dezactivat raytracing si am pus opengl si ma pot juca in cele in urma Quake 2 Ultrawide in 999fps. E genial. Pis pe RT si pe cele 11 fps pe care le am.
Daca dezactivat global illumination, am vreo 40fps, dar nu sunt de ajuns si arata mai prost decat pe opengl.

E quake 2 ... e misto, ar fi fost si mai misto cu texturi actualizate ca idee eu am undeva la 44-50 fps in 4k

Exact; Intai texturi-maps si poligoane mai multe si dupa aia vedem cum se poate implementa ray-tracing-ul in asa fel incat sa nu scada fps-urile cu 80%:
Doar ca pt. NVidia, din motive de marketing, ray-tracing-ul pare a fi un scop in sine...

Pe de alta parte, devine tot mai clar ca ray-tracing-ul e directia in care ne indreptam:

Eu nu cred.

Nvidia vrea sa faca (multi) bani, AMD vrea sa faca (multi) bani.

Sigur nu vor scadea preturile asa mult.

Poate vor scadea cate ~50$ ... poate, asta daca si AMD prezinta ceva bun.


Edit :

Mai era si zvonul ca 2060 ar primi in 2GB ram la "refresh" si va ajunge la 8GB.
Si ca 2060, 2070, 2080 for mai primi niste cores.
